In the heart of Nyenga, where opportunity is often limited by circumstance, a powerful vision began to take shape—one born from the passion and perseverance of Girls Arise Uganda’s founder, Sandra Abbo. That vision? A school that would empower youth, especially young girls, with year-round access to education, dignity, and opportunity.
In 2023, Girls Arise Uganda officially acquired a parcel of land that would become the foundation of this dream. The land, situated in a central location within the community, was not just a practical acquisition—it was a bold statement of commitment to the future. It symbolized a place where learning, growth, and transformation would soon take root.
Throughout 2024, Sandra and the Girls Arise Uganda team worked tirelessly behind the scenes. Plans were drawn, architectural designs carefully developed, and every permit and requirement secured. Each detail was thoughtfully considered to ensure the school would be a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment for hundreds of students. It was a year of intense focus and collaboration, marked by endless meetings, on-site consultations, and the dedicated involvement of both local leaders and international supporters.
What emerged was not just a school on paper, but a beacon of hope ready to rise—designed to address not only educational needs but also social challenges like period poverty, gender disparity, and economic inequality. This school will be more than a building; it will be a turning point for an entire generation.
