No girl should have to choose between her education and her period. Yet in Uganda, it happens every day.

Girls Arise Uganda provides re-usable pads and menstrual education to girls and women so they can be educated, healthy and empowered.

Since its founding, Girls Arise Uganda has grown from a small grassroots initiative into a powerful voice for change—and much of that transformation can be credited to the passion and leadership of our founder, Sandra Abbo. What began as a vision to uplift vulnerable girls in Uganda has become a thriving organization rooted in advocacy, education, and empowerment.

Under Sandra’s guidance, Girls Arise Uganda has expanded its outreach dramatically. Through regular community dialogues, workshops, and youth empowerment forums, the organization now reaches thousands of girls and young women each year with life-changing education, resources, and support.

Today, thanks to Sandra’s vision, Girls Arise Uganda is a growing network of girls, mentors, and allies committed to creating a future where every girl is educated, respected, and heard.

Girls Arise Uganda is led by community experts in Tororo, Uganda, and powered in partnership with volunteer leads in the United States.

Girls Arise Uganda is a registered 501(c)(3).

We’re Building a School
And Changing the Future!

A place where children—especially girls—can learn without limits. Where dreams take root, barriers fall, and futures begin. This is more than a building. It’s hope, opportunity, and the start of a brighter tomorrow for an entire community.

See how our dream is becoming reality.

Meet the vision, see the impact, and watch it grow.
